After a thirty year teaching career, I became a professional artist eleven years ago -- showing in numerous juried shows and venues in the Atlanta area. My work is owned by private clients across the U.S. I also teach beginning Acrylic and Oil painting classes and belong to several professional organizations including the Atlanta Collage Society, Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, Atlanta Artist Center and Southeastern Pastel Society.
Exploring a lot of different art media has enriched my art experience. Striving to master each new medium has opened a treasure trove of original techniques, all fueled by that magic question, "What would happen if I....?"
When someone spends time with my art, I am often asked, "where do you get your ideas?" My response is always EVERYWHERE. There is no part of life that has not at one time given me an artistic idea -- my family, friends, music, poetry, the backyard, people in a restaurant, art books, the news, junk mail, the stamps on the mail -- life is an endless supply -- all we have to do is look.
"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." - Thomas Merton
